Job description: LOCATION: American Garage – Chinook, Montana WAGE: $20 to $30 per hour DOE HOURS: 40 Hours Per Week COMPANY TYPE: Independent Repair Service Facility JOB DESCRIPTION At American Garage, we are an established company with solid growth and projected expansion and we are placed firmly within the Automotive marketplace in Northern Montana.

As an Automotive Technician at American Garage, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:
Perform routine maintenance and repair tasks for cars and light trucks by established guidelines and schedules; Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles and equipment, such as brakes, suspension, engines, and transmissions; Conduct inspections and testing of vehicles to identify potential problems or safety issues; Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to accurately troubleshoot and diagnose vehicle and equipment malfunctions; Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of service tasks by meeting required deadlines and possessing time management skills; Maintain detailed records of repairs, services performed, and parts used, following established procedures; Assist in maintaining an organized and clean work environment to ensure safety and efficiency; Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working with tools, equipment, and vehicles; Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and new technologies related to automotive maintenance and repair; Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer inquiries, explaining repairs or services, and offering recommendations; Ability to communicate with Service Managers/Advisors; Willingness to learn new technology; Develop new skills as needed; Maintain a good and positive attitude and a team concept at all times; To act in a professional manner suitable as to represent a quality organization with which you are employed, always and in every instance projecting an attitude of honesty, integrity, and respectfulness; Raise vehicles with hydraulic jacks or lifts, to gain access to mechanical units on the underside of vehicles, using proper equipment and safety procedures. REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred; 3+ Years of Previous experience as an Automotive Technician or in a similar role; Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of automotive systems and components; Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose issues; Familiarity with repair manuals, technical specifications, and maintenance guidelines; Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; Basic Computer/Tablet skills or willingness to learn; Positive, friendly attitude, along with a customer service mentality; Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team; Valid driver's license and clean driving record; Willingness to learn new technology, repair and service procedures and specifications as needed; The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously manage multiple tasks and achieve deadlines in a fast-paced environment; Requires strong communication skills, both verbal and written/electronic, organizational skills, both analytical and problem-solving; Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Certification from a recognized automotive training program or institution; ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications or equivalent; Experience working with a variety of vehicle makes and models; Experience with computerized diagnostic systems.
