Overview

Northwest Specialists For Women , a practice partner of Together Women's Health , is seeking a full time Authorization Specialist to join their growing medical team. The Authorization Specialist works for the practice under the oversight of the practice manager. Daily tasks may include obtaining authorizations for (but not limited to) procedures, surgeries, medications and imaging. This role will also actively interact with medical staff and patients.

The ideal applicant will have experience with disability form administration.

Working hours are M-F 9am-5pm.

Responsibilities

Key areas of responsibility:

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this job but are not intended to be all inclusive.
Authorize scheduled procedures to include surgeries, medications, imaging and other items needing authorization with insurance. Verify eligibility and benefits for all procedure codes.
Pre-collect payment for surgeries and other procedures as required by department
Document work processes as required
Coordinate processes and route all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements
Must be able to recognize and respond appropriately to urgent /emergent situations.
Demonstrate courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and / or their families.
Ensure efficient telephone communication when required
Work as a team member within the authorizations department and all other departments
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 3+ years as Authorization Specialist preferred.
Medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT coding knowledge
Knowledge of contracted insurance plans and procedures
Solid computer and phone skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to prioritize responsibilities and multi-task efficiently and effectively
Physical Requirements: Physical requirements can vary. These must be reviewed with management. However, in general, the position requires the following physical activities: Ability to lift minimum of 2 pounds to a maximum of 20 pounds unassisted; able to sit stand, stoop, walk, stretch, reach frequently; moderate range of body motions.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
