Position SummaryThe Assurance Manager has shared responsibility for the overall operation of the Firm's Assurance department from a staff management, project service and delivery perspective. The Assurance Manager oversees the preparation and delivery of Firm assurance and review engagements.Professional ResponsibilitiesReports departmental performance to management and offers suggestions about department strategy and resource utilizationDetermine and suggest new processes to help efficiencyRelies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goalsResearches applicable U.S. GAAS and GAAP standards and rules and ensures updates to relevant topics are thoroughly researched and communicated to the department and clientsServes as departmental role model by adopting CDH core values and the Firm's Five Star philosophy specifically in the areas of providing outstanding service to existing and potential clients; communicating effectively with team members and fostering a spirit of teamwork and continuous improvementHires, supervises, trains, mentors and develops all levels of department staff from interns through seniorsParticipates in firm-wide leadership activities including monthly and annual staff meetings, performance meetings, recruitment activities and other duties necessary to advance departmental and firm initiativesMeets with potential or existing external clients to develop client relationships; starts becoming key client contactAssumes overall responsibility in all phases of multiple audit and review engagements, including planning, internal control analysis and preparing detailed reports on findingsInvolved with engagement budgeting, delegating and monitoring workloads, along with client satisfactionStrong project management and organization skills to oversee the engagement progress, as well as supervise multiple staff.Manages and supervises the execution of external audit and review engagements:* Has knowledge of U.S. GAAS requirements related to key audit areas such as cash, accounts receivable, long-term debt, accounts payable, inventory, accruals and income statementPrepares and reviews financial statements, and other reports using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards in the United States of AmericaCompletes and/or supervises audit planning including assessment of inherent risk, control risk, and determination of risks related to each engagementPerforms inventory observations to ensure accuracy and existenceHas ability to complete current and deferred tax provisionsUses analytics to complete financial statement reviewsIdentifies the need for specialists on an engagementCollects and analyzes data to detect deficient controls, fraud, or non-compliance with laws, regulations, and management policiesApplies U.S. GAAP and GAAS to complex testing areas, designs and performs audit tests and explains attest reportUses logic and reasoning to examine and evaluate financial and information systems, recommending controls to ensure system reliability and data integrityUses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standardsUnderstands the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-makingReports to clients' management about audit results, including business strategies, practices and policies, and recommend changes in operations and financial activitiesProficient with Excel, Word, and ability to learn and train/supervise others on data extraction and other software used for audit efficiencyPersonal ResponsibilitiesAttend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis, along with directly educating the departmentFollow and promote CDH Core Values and Five Star philosophy, including excellent client service, communication and interpersonal skillsMaintain and expand knowledge base in area of expertiseTake proactive career stepsQualificationsBachelor's Degree in accounting or related fieldCurrent CPA license4-8 years of related experience in public accountingExperience with U.S. GAAP, GAAS and SOX, along with project and client managementAbility and willingness to travel to clients within the Firm's market areaWe are an equal opportunity employer.
