Asst. Dean, Administration (Req. 29597)
The Assistant Dean for Administration serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the School of the Arts and Architecture (UCLA Arts), interacting with both the academic programs and the public arts units. Acting under general guidelines from the Dean, incumbent is responsible for managing either directly or through subordinates the School's human, financial and physical resources, for establishing administrative policies and procedures, and for administering daily operations.
The Assistant Dean for Administration is responsible for the coordination of program development and for guidance, development, implementation and communication of strategic planning initiatives and budgetary processes as well as the integrative analysis of information pertinent to the School's operation. Incumbent represents the Dean's Office to campus constituencies and serves as the School's liaison to external agencies regarding administrative matters.
This position has delegated authority to execute performance agreements for the Center for the Art of Performance, as well as for the other public and academic programs in the School. In addition, incumbent reviews and approves grant applications from departments in the School on behalf of the Dean.

Substantive experience in designing and implementing programs that sustain and enhance the optimal functioning of academic and public arts presentation activities within a complex organizational environment. Ability to analyze complex, multivariate issues and frame strategies for consideration by the Dean. Ability to apply creativity and resourcefulness in the coordination and completion of diverse, complex projects under jurisdiction of Dean's Office as well as ability to administer a complex operation with many objectives and points of view. Working knowledge of current issues in higher education, including strategic planning, policy formulation and development of academic initiatives. Strong preference for demonstrated expertise in the complex issues facing public cultural and arts institutions, within and beyond the university environment. Proven supervisory abilities including effective delegation of workload, responsibility, and authority, evaluation of job performance, assessment of training or development opportunities, and instituting corrective actions.
