Job DescriptionThe VA/MD College of Veterinary Medicine radiologist position offers an excellent opportunity to develop a rewarding career in a supportive, collaborative, multi-specialty teaching hospital and state-of-the-art Cancer Center (Animal Cancer Care and Research Center). You will join experienced support staff, and collegial colleagues and you will be part of an enthusiastic, cohesive, patient-care oriented radiology team composed of 2 ACVR board certified radiologists (one full time, one half time), two imaging residents, and four to 5 dedicated imaging technicians. The hospital is well equipped with Siemens and Philips DR; two Philips IU22 ultrasound units; Philips ProxiDiagnost N90 digital fluoroscopy; Toshiba 16-slice spiral CT; on-site Philips 1.5 Tesla MRI, and purpose-built equine gamma camera with Mirage software.Collaborative opportunities are available with the Animal Cancer Care and Research Center, a state of the art clinical and research facility housed in the 139,000 square foot Virginia Tech Carilion Biomedical Research Addition in Roanoke, VA.Clinical responsibilities in the Diagnostic Imaging Service of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) will include small and large animal diagnostic radiology and contrast procedures, small animal ultrasonography, CT, MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, and consultations to VTH faculty/house officers. Some teleradiology duties, mainly from local or referring DVM are performed. Teaching responsibilities will include providing clinical instruction to interns, residents, and professional students as they rotate through the Diagnostic Imaging service and participation in the Radiology didactic courses. Mentoring responsibilities will include mentoring and training imaging residents.
