Job Summary: The Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (IMSE) in the College of Engineering (COE) at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for an Associate or Full Professor with tenure. This faculty member will teach classes in the IMSE Department and should have a research interest related to some aspect of data science, such as operations research, statistics, or machine learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching IMSE classes. Supervising IMSE Ph.D. students' dissertations. Publishing research papers, including some related to data science. Obtaining funded research to support graduate students and research activities. Participating with the COE Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics ( Working with other UTA departments and with other universities in collaborative research projects. Providing leadership in the IMSE Department and the COE. Performing typical academic duties within the University, such as advising and committee work. Providing external professional service, such as being active in professional societies, refereeing manuscripts for journals, and reviewing grant applications for various funding agencies. Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree is required in an area related to data science, including degrees in operations research, industrial engineering, statistics, computer science, and mathematics. Candidates should have a record of scholarship and teaching commensurate with an appointment as Associate Professor or Professor.
Department Information: The Industrial, Manufacturing, and Systems Engineering (IMSE) Department Ph.D. offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering, as well as an M.S. in Engineering Management and multiple graduate certificate programs. It currently has about 500 students and 21 full-time faculty members, including 11 females and 10 males.
The UTA College of Engineering (COE) provides comprehensive engineering programs with 12 baccalaureate, 13 master's, and 9 doctoral programs. It has approximately 10,000 students. In addition to IMSE, there are the Departments of Bioengineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science and Engineering, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The COE's M.S. in Data Science currently enrolls nearly 250 students.
