THE CHALLENGE As a Project Development Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the technical aspects of energy project development. Your responsibilities will include conceptual design development, technical requirement definition, and project oversight..
THE RESPONSIBILITIES Conceptual Design Development : Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create conceptual designs for energy projects (solar, wind, BESS, thermal generation, etc.). Evaluate feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and environmental impact of proposed designs. Ensure alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements. Technical Requirement Definition : Review and define technical specifications for energy projects. Work closely with stakeholders to understand project requirements and constraints. Specify equipment, materials, and performance criteria. Third-Party Consultant Management : Coordinate with external consultants (engineering firms, environmental experts, etc.) to support project development. Monitor their progress, provide guidance, and ensure timely deliverables. OEM Interface : Engage with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for equipment selection, procurement, and technical support. Collaborate on design modifications and optimization. Support Equipment and EPC RFP Processes : Assist in preparing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for equipment suppliers and Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors. Evaluate vendor proposals and make recommendations. Project Execution Oversight : Participate in design reviews during project execution. Address technical challenges, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety standards. Support on-site construction activities. THE PROFILE TO SUCCEED Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or related field). 5 to 10 years of experience in energy project development, including: Concept design Permitting support Development of technical, CAPEX, and OPEX inputs to financial models Equipment and EPC RFP Project design review and construction support Strong technical knowledge of energy systems, equipment, and relevant codes/regulations. Excellent communication skills for collaboration with internal teams, consultants, and OEMs. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet project deadlines. THE WORK ENVIRONMENT Onward Energy is currently implementing a hybrid office environment, with team members in the office at least two days per week. The position functions in a smoke and vape free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computers, phones, and scanner/photocopier.
