Associate Director of Student Success Chatham University's Department of Student Affairs is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Student Success.

Position Summary: The Associate Director of Student Success is responsible for supporting the mission of Chatham University and the Division of Student Affairs. Utilizing data-informed, equity-conscious practices and critical intervention methods, the Associate Director collaborates with campus stakeholders to enhance student success efforts at the University.
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students, the Associate Director is responsible for helping support transformative leadership and intentional action steps to increase student retention from the enrollment to degree completion.
The Associate Director also promotes student success through coordination of the Cougar's Care Alert system including managing daily case load, assisting in training staff to use system, and training the campus community on proactive and equitable ways to intervene with students, especially at-risk populations.
The Associate Director should be a high-energy, detail-oriented, positive role model who is committed to supporting a diverse array of programs, activities, and initiatives to promote student learning, sense of belonging, and retention in a student-centered environment. This position involves high student contact, including some evening and weekend hours while also serving on our on-call response team.
Duties and Responsibilities: Participate as a committed team member of the Division of Student Affairs in university and division committee work, projects, and overall community development. Oversee the Care Alert program to foster student retention and success, including: Serve as lead user of the comprehensive management system - Pharos 360. Collaborate with campus stakeholders including Information Technology, Academic Affairs, and others to maintain system. Coordinate the student emergency fund process and maintain regular communication with students about resources and support services available. Maintain up-to-date user trainings for the system and intervention training for Athletic Coaches, Success Coaches, SDE Instructors, and other employees each year. Manage the daily case load by assigning cases, ensuring all cases are closed and student issues are addressed. Actively meet with students to help navigate college life and support in resolving barriers. Build relationships across campus to understand policies and procedures to foster student growth and development. Serve on the student care management team. Alongside the Assistant Dean of Students, work collaboratively with Institutional Research to review data and suggest areas of improvement for student retention. Serve on the Midterm Review Committee and Retention Committee to support intervention efforts for students. Regularly assess the Care Alert program and provide strategic vision for the course and program. Collaborate with campus partners to develop a comprehensive retention and student success plan that nurtures inclusive and equitable outcome for all students. Develop and co-lead new programming and retention initiatives for first-year, second-year, and transfer students. This includes underrepresented student populations. Co-manage retention initiatives budget with the Assistant Dean of Students. Supervise Success Coach Graduate Assistants to support the daily operations of the Cougar's Care Alert system and maintain knowledge of university resources and best practices to help students navigate barriers. Partner with department chairs, faculty, academic advisors, and other community stakeholders to develop retention strategies and targeted intervention initiatives to maintain successful academic progress and student retention. Coordinate the Medical Cancellation/Withdraw process with the Dean of Students, including meeting with students, creating care plans to return, and processing paperwork. Provide shared support for the Success Coach Program, first-year seminar course and Orientation. Instruct 1 section of SDE 101 (Strategies for Student Success in College) in the fall semester. Serve in the on-call duty rotation and provide crisis response. Responsible for assessing and making decisions regarding student health and safety. Support Cougar's Care system and provide resources for students of concern. Perform other duties and special projects as requested and assigned by the Assistant Dean of Students, Associate Dean for Academic Success, and/or Dean of Students. Qualifications: Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field, with minimum of 2 years of professional work experience in student affairs or a higher education setting. Comprehensive understanding, appreciation, and support of student life at a small, private institution and a commitment to improving the lives of students. Possess impeccable judgement, critical thinking, tolerance for ambiguity in diverse situations, and commitment to student development. Demonstrated commitment to equity, antiracism, and the ability to foster inclusive Demonstrated understanding of and strong commitment to customer service and a student-centered experience. Experience working with students, faculty, and staff to deliver collaborative initiatives, programmatic support, and offer advice and guidance that enhances student performance and development. Willingness to collaborate with multiple individuals and departments to best serve Excellent organizational, oral, written, and online communication skills. Sound judgment and ability to resolve student issues and crisis situations effectively. Ability to multitask, meet established deadlines and demonstrate initiative and flexibility. Excellent interpersonal skills, with special sensitivity to the needs of a diverse student Salary Range: $46,100 - $52,400. 40-hour work week. Exact compensation based on candidate skills and experience.
