US Pain Associate Director of Institutional Marketing
Location: Boston, MA
The US Pain AD of Institutional Marketing will be responsible for executing marketing strategy and tactics for the formulary decision maker in the IDN & hospital setting for the Vertex Pain Business Unit. This will include the development and implementation of channel-specific strategies and tactics that advance the Vertex presence within leading IDNs, hospitals, and appropriate ambulatory surgical centers (ASCs) in the US.
Specifically, this remit includes understanding the institutional accounts, developing relevant materials to support engaging these accounts, and executing the engagement plan & materials for our institutional customers. The Institutional Marketing AD will work closely with the Strategic Accounts team, the Institutional Market Access team and the HCP team within the Pain Marketing team to drive educational and promotional content that is customized and relevant at the system and institutional level.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Support select branded and unbranded tactics for the Institutional & IDN channel, including strategic engagements, channel convention support, team meeting & training support, market research, and advisory board formation
Lead the IDN and institution strategic council
Develop and execute branded 548 assets that effectively position the brand in the institution; this includes working closely with market access colleagues to tailor messages and materials for formulary decision makers
Collaborate with cross-functional partners within strategic accounts, market access and HCP marketing to ensure strategic alignment, operational efficiency, and collaborative strategies & tactics where appropriate
Supports the integration and deployment of IDN and institutional data assets
Collaborate with the institutional agency of record
Leverage learnings from IDN and field leadership regarding emerging account dynamics, effectiveness, and capabilities to establish Vertex as a partner of choice
Executes the institutional congress plan including relevant sponsorships and programs
Required Education and Experience Level
Bachelor's degree
8 + years of educational/work experience in healthcare/biopharmaceuticals in marketing, consulting, agency or an equivalent combination of experience and education
Experience developing communications/tactics in U.S. or global marketing and managing agency efforts
Experience with institutional and IDN marketing and/or sales
Early career experience as a strong individual contributor in a professional work setting
Pharmaceutical drug launch experience preferred
Demonstrates strong understanding of health information technology, IDN systems, and institutional markets
Required Knowledge/Skills
Experience driving brand campaigns, ability to generate insights, and apply those insights to business problems/opportunities
Entrepreneurial spirit and courage to challenge the status quo to develop innovative and focused approaches to enable launch through data and technology, regular measurement of results and pivoting based on our test and learn strategy
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to connect with senior leaders as well as more varied large audiences
Comfortable working in a highly collaborative and results-driven environment within a growing business unit where we are concurrently learning & building as we drive towards product launch
Demonstrated understanding of the legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for pre- and post-approval activities and ability to model expected behavior for the team
Travel Requirements: Ability to travel 30%.
