The Associate Director is a seasoned admission professional responsible for undergraduate recruitment, assessment and yield activities in support of the University's annual enrollment goals. The Associate is a senior member of the admission officer cadre, managing a recruitment territory and travel schedule, conducting group information sessions and interviews, and evaluating admission and scholarship applications. Specifically, the Associate will lead the team responsible for on-campus daily visit practices, including the University Ambassadors program. Other duties will be assigned based on the selected candidate's background, skills, and professional experience. While the primary functions of the role require a visible campus presence, the Associate will be afforded the independence and flexibility to successfully execute their duties in keeping with current office practices.

Essential Functions: Leads the Admissions Campus Visit Team responsible for daily campus visit program, including University Ambassadors. Oversees all programmatic and logistical planning. Supervises staff tasked with specific visit responsibilities, including the Assistant Director of Admission for Campus Visit and Receptionist.
Partners with the Senior Associate Deans and Director of Admission Marketing to ensure the distinctiveness, effectiveness, consistency and accuracy of the visit information provided by both admission officers and guides.
Responsible for seasonal recruitment travel consisting of a combination of high school visits, college fairs, and information sessions, including international locales.
Serves as senior member of the admissions committee, evaluating first year and transfer admission applications, recommending admission decisions and mentoring new and seasonal readers.
Frequently corresponds with prospective students, their parents, secondary school personnel, alumni, and others, answering their questions and providing counsel about the admission process and W&L programs and opportunities.
Interviews prospective students and conducts group information sessions.
Uses technology solutions to organize and deploy recruitment programs.
Supports and advocates for consistent and equitable recruitment, hiring, and retention practices. Values and builds a diverse team. Encourages and provides professional development opportunities for team members.
Additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and at least five years of work experience in selective college Admissions are required or a combination of education and experience from which a similar skillset would be obtained.
A demonstrated dedication to a residential liberal arts education, appreciation for diversity, the ability to work well collaboratively as well as independently, and a high level of energy and responsibility are highly valued characteristics.
Strong communication skills and demonstrated organizational abilities are expected.
Travel (up to four weeks per year), evening and weekend hours, and a valid driver's license are required.
Preference will be afforded to candidates with at least seven years of extensive admissions experience, demonstrated interest and knowledge in the use of technology in admission, proven leadership experience within an admission team, a record of engagement with current students and investment in campus visit programming and planning.
Minimum Pay: $68,344 – Pay commensurate with experience
