Job Overview The Associate Director of Advisor Engagement and Retention (AD) reports directly to the Director of University Advising Leadership in the Office of Advising and Academic Services. The Associate Director oversees the design, development, and implementation of campus-wide advisor engagement and development. The AD will be responsible for working with colleges, campus partners, and advising units to create and facilitate high quality advisor engagement opportunities and experiences that promote a culture of advising excellence. The AD participates in strategic planning with various stakeholders to pursue a culture of innovation, collaboration, courage, and compassion. The AD is responsible for promoting best practices in hiring and advancement of an equitable advising culture. This is a hybrid position. 
Reviews will begin May 3,  2024, and will continue until the position is filled.
Essential Functions Lead and support, under the guidance of the Director of University Advising Leadership, the development, evaluation and implementation of a unified equitable framework and curriculum that supports the ongoing needs of the academic advising community. Lead the development, coordination, facilitation, and assessment of programs including, but not limited to, exit, stay and satisfaction surveys, the Advisor Engagement and Retention Advisory Board, advisor study abroad experience, and advisor certificate program. Participate in strategic planning with various stakeholders to pursue a culture of innovation, collaboration, courage, and compassion in line with UC's Next Lives Here strategic direction. Develop and implement solutions, in partnership with the AVP, the Director, and campus stakeholders, to address equity issues and improve advisor and student engagement, achievement, and retention. Coordinate with other college and community-based student support programs and initiatives to support an integrated model for student success and advisor support and engagement. Promote best practices in hiring and advancement of an equitable advising culture. Lead, in partnership with advising units and Central Human Resources, the development and implementation of support resources and programs and encourage best practices for advisor recruitment, hiring, compensation, development and advancement. Collaborate with and support campus units in alignment with the Office of Equal Opportunity (OEO). Serve on the OEO Resource Liaisons group. Provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff, as well as graduate assistants and student staff (i.e., hiring/dismissing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.). Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time. Required Education Bachelor's Degree Required Experience Five (5) years of experience as an academic advisor, career counselor, human resource specialist, or related function Additional Qualifications Considered Two (2+) years of supervision experience Knowledge and/or Experience in Assessment and Evaluation, Project Management, or Training and Development Knowledge and/or expertise in the areas of Student Success or Retention Physical Requirements/Work Environment Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
