Job Type: Full-time Job Description:
This role is a senior-level executive entrusted with defining and executing a transformative vision for advancement's data and research strategies. This visionary leader balances innovation with precision to optimize our data and research resources to drive fundraising strategy, enhance donor engagement, and ensure data accuracy. S/he is responsible for overseeing the systems and procedures that facilitate the management of the University's prospects and safeguards the integrity of the University's constituent and prospect data. The AVP serves as the authority on AEA's data structure and strategy as well as the administration and application development of the division's CRM database. The AVP oversees advancement services, technical systems and services, constituent records, prospect research, prospect management, and fundraising intelligence. S/he drives the strategic evaluation of constituent and prospect programs, gift processing, technical support and digital platforms, and will direct all data and information analysis projects.
The AVP leads, advises and collaborates with colleagues in units and central IT/digital transformation to ensure resources are optimized to grow a culture of increased philanthropy and volunteer leadership. Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. At least ten (10) years of experience in higher education development research or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of related management and supervisory experience. Demonstrated proficiency in relational database management/CRM use. Demonstrated experience and proficiency with research tools and data analytics, including internet sources and new research technologies. Demonstrated ability to manage complex requests, with multiple priorities and deliverables, in a short timeframe. A valid drivers license is required. Job Specific Qualifications: Ability to manage and work with various personalities, building teamwork and collaboration to achieve goals. Progressive experience in data analytics, comprehensive biographical or genealogical research, and/or financial analysis. Experience leveraging predictive modeling preferred. Ability to manipulate, analyze and synthesize data using data warehousing and mining tools. Ability to foster a collaborative, customer-oriented working environment. Skill in developing and implementing new strategies and procedures. Familiarity with best practices and effective options for leading support departments in a fundraising environment. Ability to implement short and long-term goals while managing multiple projects, tasks, and deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills demonstrated by clear, concise, and persuasive writing, public speaking, and private discourse. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and demonstrated experience successfully working with persons from diverse backgrounds. Proven success working with high-level administrators and staff. Detail oriented with strong organizational skills, highly driven and results oriented. Ability to manage budget and negotiate with vendors on contract renewals, etc. Responsibilities:
Lead divisional information management and technology systems including business intelligence, prospect management, gift processing and their individual and collective reporting efforts.



Cultivate a culture of data-driven decision-making by leveraging advanced data analytics to inform fundraising strategies, donor segmentation, and campaign planning. Lead, organize and support efforts to use data analytics, business intelligence reporting and visualizations to help inform fundraising strategies. Establish long /short term priorities for enterprise-wide analytics, systems, and divisional intelligence deployment. Oversee strategies and implementation for the maintenance, use, support, and development of Citrus (CRM), and other Advancement technologies. Design and implement forecasting and fundraising performance management tools, including the use of predictive analytics. Promote direction for the design, development and analyses gained from analyzing data using statistical and visualization tools including Microsoft Excel, SQL, Tableau, SSRS, and R. Oversee the usage, implementation, and training of Advancement-specific systems used to support advancement/ advancement communications/marketing and facilitate giving.
Divisional Units Oversight:



Participate in executive leadership team, providing insights into the outcomes and impact of initiatives, and demonstrating how precision and innovation jointly drive fundraising success. Oversee the production of high-quality research deliverables for senior university leadership and AEA fundraising staff. Ensure adherence to policies, procedures and processes for the handing and recording of all gifts and related data security protocols. Oversee strategies for the identification and engagement of high-capacity prospects, assignment of donors and prospects to gift officers and ability to track progress in Citrus. Capitalize on the existing and developing landscape of software resources and platforms for prospect identification, constituent data collection, gift processing, gift documentation and reporting. Lead the design, implementation, and management of systems for prospect identification by capitalizing on the existing and developing landscape of software resources and platforms. Participate in establishment of annual solicitation and fundraising goals, management pipeline and goal reporting.
Staffing and Talent Management:



Supervisory responsibility of advancement services, technical systems and services, constituent records, prospect research, prospect management, and fundraising intelligence, including 20+ staff members. Identify staffing needs and create areas of expertise and growth opportunities for staff. Cultivate a high-performing team. Develop and enforce performance metrics for managed teams by establishing departmental and individual employee goals and provide routine evaluations of progress toward these goals. Attend professional conferences and user group meetings and recommend changes and enhancements to the advancement systems and capabilities.
Management and Budget:



Leads the development and management of the budget for the Advancement Systems, Services, and Intelligence department and units, optimizing resource allocation for strategic impact and tangible results. Evaluate and negotiate terms for future software platforms, research resources, and constituent records systems. Maintain active relationships with product vendors and manage contractual relationships. Stay informed about product issues and developments.
