Summary Ascension Episcopal Day School is accepting applications for a fulltime Assistant Teacher. Pay is $15 per hour with some benefits. Ascension Day School serves children ages 6 weeks thru 5 years. Our program is designed to cultivate the cognitive, social, physical, creative, spiritual, and emotional development of each child in a caring educational environment . The Assistant Toddler Teacher will be responsible for helping the Lead Teacher develop and maintain a nurturing and creative community for 12 students ages 12-26 months. We are an early education center not a day care and we have high expectations for quality interactions between teachers and students. Hours are 7:45-4:45. Duties MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Assist in the creation and maintenance of a safe and stimulating classroom environment. Assist in the implementation of curriculum conducive to the cognitive, physical, social, creative, spiritual and emotional development of young children. Actively engage students in activities and explorations that encourage curiosity, creativity, movement, and problem-solving appropriate to their development levels. Model developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques. Assist in the maintenance of attendance and childcare records for the classroom. Work cooperatively and effectively as a team member by communicating information on a continuous basis and attending staff meetings. Participate in staff development opportunities and maintain knowledge of current child development practices. Consistently maintain open and friendly relationships with each child's family. Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible. Assist with school health practices including cleaning/sterilizing the classroom throughout the day and basic childcare routines such as diapering, cleaning noses, and washing hands. The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
One year of experience in an early education center. Some college-level courses in early education or a related field. Early education training including knowledge of early education teaching methods and child development theory.
