Description: Carthage College's Center for Student Success (CSS) is seeking qualified applicants for aSpecial Populations and Projects Graduate Assistant position. Ideal candidates will be enrolled in a two-year graduate program at CarthageCollege and meet the position requirements below.
CSS facilitates students' successful transition to the College and supportsongoing academic success and persistence through graduation. Center for Student Success staff work closely with other college personnel toholistically address the academic, personal, and social needs of students, with particular focus on supporting underrepresented/underservedstudent populations. CSS supports students using a data-informed, comprehensive approach which leverages the expertise, influence, andresources of campus partners to support student learning and remove barriers to students' success.
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIALDUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES : The will support the Assistant Dean for Student Success and Wellness and CSS Staff with tasks related tospecial populations and projects. Duties may include, but not be limited to assisting with:
Programming for special populationsnot limited to veteran students, first-generation students, commuting students, and transfer students. Some examples of programming includea commuter student breakfast, a transfer student mentoring program, and a series of first-generation programming, etc. UtilizingNavigate to pull data used identify student needs and issues. Co-advising student groups associated with special studentpopulations Completing program planning tasks, such as room and technology reservations, preparing presentations and facilitatingtrainings, developing and coordinating marketing and communication, identifying needed supplies and resources, implementing assessmentprocesses, keeping track of related budget items, creating and updating course and programming materials Collaborating with on- andoff-campus partners regarding student population opportunities and needs, as appropriate, and to identify and update resources and referralinformation Assisting with Navigate data-auditing, programming implementation, training and communication asneeded Identifying and developing overall wellness needs and initiatives with the Assistant Dean Attend regular CSS staffmeetings and one on one meetings with supervisor Attend campus meetings as appropriate Assisting with the implementation ofvarious CSS events/programs Answering emails in the email account as appropriate Engaging in ongoing professional development by learning best practices, etc. Collaboratingwith office and campus staff and faculty and contributing to the overall function and mission of the Center for StudentSuccess Providing excellent customer service, demonstrating integrity and initiative Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree is required. Admission into Carthage College's graduate program isrequired. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail.
