(Anticipated hiring range: $78,000 - $82,000 per year).Initial Review Date:12/1/23; complete applications received after that date may be considered.Minimum Qualifications:The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a terminal degree in Animal Science or related areas such as Range/Forage Science, Dairy Science or another related field. Candidates nearing completion of the terminal degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be met no later than the start date of the position. Additional qualifications include demonstrated ability and experience in undergraduate education and applied research and excellent written and oral communication skills.Responsibilities:This tenure-track position has responsibilities in teaching undergraduate courses, scholarship (research in field of interest, grants, dissemination of research), and service (student advising, committee work, allied partner groups). Specifically, development of an active research program involving undergraduate students; serving as an advisor to undergraduate students; connect research and instructional program to the University Farm; participating in outreach and recruitment activities; serve on appropriate College and University committees and to be an active member in appropriate professional organizations and associations. Teaching assignments are based on individual qualifications and the department's needs. All applicants must apply online, applications submitted via email or in-person to the department will not be considered.The Department:The College of Agricultureincludes 23 full-time tenured/tenure track faculty, 18 full or part-time lecturers, and approximately 850 undergraduate students and offers programs leading to bachelor's degrees in Agricultural Science (options in Agricultural Science and Education and Agricultural Communications and Leadership), Agricultural Business, Animal Science (options in Pre-Veterinary Science and Food Animal Production), and Plant and Soil Sciences (options in Crops and Horticulture and Land and Soil Resource Management). The Animal Science program has over 400 majors and is currently the ninth largest major at the university. The faculty represents a wide range of interests, and the hallmark of our program is an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to undergraduate education. Central to this approach is the incorporation of our 800-acre University Farm and 240 acres of native rangeland. Animal enterprises include beef, organic dairy, sheep, swine, and a USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) meats facility.
