Details of the offer

The Psychology Department at Suffolk University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice, a non-tenure track position in the Mental Health Counseling (MHC) master's program starting Summer 2024. Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree in either clinical or counseling psychology (PhD, PsyD, EdD) and be license-eligible in the state of Massachusetts. The position responsibilities are 50% teaching in the MHC program and 50% administration in support of the MHC program. Specifically, the individual will be responsible for teaching internship, practicum and related intervention courses, coordinating external placements throughout the Boston area, establishing new training relationships, and overseeing counselor training and evaluation processes in collaboration with the program director. Area of interest is open but demonstrated expertise in working with underserved populations is desired.
Founded in 1906 to provide legal education in the evening to individuals who might not otherwise have been afforded that opportunity, Suffolk University consistently seeks to advance its history as a school of access and opportunity. Over one third of our undergraduate students identify as first-generation and 35% of our undergraduate and graduate students are from racially minoritized groups. Set in the heart of Boston, our students and faculty thrive among the endless experiential learning and scholarship opportunities and partnerships.
Our access and opportunity mission is lived through our decisions at every level. U.S. News ranked Suffolk University among the top 100 universities in the country for social mobility. Through student, faculty and staff recruitment and support, community engagement, curriculum development, and research, the University community works to advance equity for every student, every day. Learn more about how we manifest the core values of our mission at Suffolk DEI.
The successful candidate will contribute to Suffolk's rich tradition of community-engaged teaching and experiential education that prepares our diverse, substantially first-generation college students for careers and civic engagement. We seek candidates with a commitment to inclusive pedagogy and curricular diversity, mentoring and advising students-especially first-generation college students.
Not sure this is you? Contact us to find out! Research indicates that women and members of under-represented groups tend not to apply to jobs when they think they do not meet every qualification, when, in fact, they often do. Suffolk University is dedicated to a diverse and inclusive academic community. Familiarity with and experience using pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and ability groups to reach their maximum potential is a valuable qualification. Teaching experience is preferred.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Application should be made through the Suffolk University Human Resources'
Careers at Suffolk site and should include the following: a letter of application; CV; Diversity Statement; evidence of teaching effectiveness and three professional letters of reference.
