Job Description Summary
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Florida Polytechnic University invites applications for an Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity Engineering with broad teaching capacity in the field and with technical interests that complement the Department's existing strengths. Successful applicants must have demonstrated expertise in cybersecurity engineering with a focus on the human, hardware, and software interactions in systems and with a specialized interest in cyberphysical security in the areas of healthcare systems, transportation systems, energy systems (smart grid), or industrial control systems.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering department delivers ABET accredited degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering. The department also delivers a Master of Science in Engineering degree with a program track in Electrical and Computer Engineering. The cybersecurity engineering degree is a natural outgrowth of the hardware expertise in the Electrical and Computer Engineering department and the software expertise in the Computer Science department. The curriculum integrates core technical courses from both electrical engineering and computer science to present an undergraduate program that includes interdisciplinary project based-learning experiences and produces graduates competent in cybersecurity. The degree program follows the ABET guidelines established by Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) for cybersecurity engineering degree programs. Successful applicants must be capable of teaching a range of core and laboratory courses focused on cybersecurity.
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to develop a highly successful teaching and research program, attract independent research funding, publish the results of their research studies in leading scientific journals of their discipline, supervise graduate and undergraduate students, and to teach effectively at both the graduate and undergraduate level. Our newly acquired state-of-the-art laboratory, specifically designated for both teaching and advanced research initiatives, supports our cybersecurity degree and initiatives . Candidates are expected to support the cyber security engineering degree and assist in the broad education mission of the department.
The appointment will begin on August 15, 2024; appointments as early as January of 2024 will be considered where appropriate.
