Position Highlights The Department of Surgery is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to fill the role of Falls Prevention Outreach Assistant. Our Falls Prevention Program aims to reduce the incidence of falls among older adults through evidence-based research and intervention strategies. Join our team and contribute to meaningful research that directly impacts the health and safety of our community members.
This position will be expected to use judgment, initiative, and creativity to work on complex problems for the Falls Prevention Program, coordinating various activities, and ensuring the smooth execution of the program. The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as a passion for promoting community health and safety.
This position requires travel to both local and rural areas for outreach and events, and will require occasional availability on nights and weekends, dependent on the program and event schedules.
This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position. Duties & Responsibilities Support community outreach Falls Prevention education programs and communication activities that improve life skills and reduce the incidence of falls among older adults. Under minimal supervision, assist with the coordination of community engagement activities, which includes developing and implementing a communication plan to promote the Falls Prevention Program, working with marketing and outreach teams to create promotional materials and campaign, and participating in relevant community events to meet the community needs and health goals, as well as support established program objectives. Assist with making purchases related to the programs, i.e.. office supplies, marketing/outreach materials, etc. Help recruit and facilitate the participation of program participants, community partners, and stakeholders in program, and provide ongoing follow-up. Assist with developing and nurturing relationships with community organizations, healthcare providers, and other relevant stakeholders to raise awareness, encourage participation, and expand the reach and impact of the Falls Prevention Program. Keep an accurate and up-to-date records of program participants, activities, and outcomes. Support the collection of program data to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Prepare regular reports for program funders, partners, and management. Use extensive knowledge to assist with coordinating and facilitating training sessions for program staff, volunteers, and community members. Provide educational resources to participants to empower them with knowledge about preventing falls. Stay informed about best practices and advancements in falls prevention strategies. Schedule and participate in regular project program meetings, workshops, and events. Prepare meeting agendas, distribute materials, and ensure that meetings run smoothly. Communicate effectively with program participants, partners, and stakeholders to facilitate attendance and participation in events. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of falls prevention strategies and community health promotion. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required. Five (5) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual in English/Spanish. Previous experience in program coordination or a related role. FLSA Non-Exempt
