Kalamazoo Country Club The Kalamazoo Country Club is a jewel tucked in the heart of Kalamazoo that will take you away from the hustle of the city to a breathtakingly beautiful and serene year-round resort. Enjoyable activities are in full swing every month at KCC. Each month we feature unique social events for both adults and children. Family time is a focus at KCC with youth enrichment activities and events scheduled weekly indoors as well as outdoors. During spring and summer, you will find our Members outside golfing, swimming, playing pickleball and tennis, socializing and participating in events on our patios and grounds. The Club is embarking on a complete transformation over the next few years, beginning with a new, world-class Clubhouse (over 80,000 sqft) on recently acquired land adjacent to the existing property. This clubhouse is designed to offer the membership a plethora of amenities and services that include a full service bar & restaurant, a quick service restaurant, six bowling lanes, movie theater, and state of the art fitness center. Additional amenities located at the clubhouse include world class aquatics and racquet offerings. For aquatics, we will feature two swimming pools, a family friendly splash pad, and a water slide. Our new racquet areas will have three indoor tennis courts, 4 outdoor pickleball courts and 4 platform courts.
In addition, the Golf Performance Center will include the latest technologies available including six indoor/outdoor hitting bays with Trackman simulators, a putting studio complete with a ZEN putting stage and PUTTVIEW green, along with several of the latest teaching aids available for use. Also, on this new piece of property will be a brand-new Executive Course designed by Andrew Green, a 30,000 sq ft putting green, short game park / wedge range, and driving range.
Once the Clubhouse and surrounding golf amenities are completed (Fall of 2025) Andrew Green will focus his efforts on completely redesigning the current Championship golf course, which will be his first in the world.
What You'll Be Doing The Assistant General Manager reports directly to the General Manager of Kalamazoo Country Club. As part of the senior management team, the Assistant General Manager is expected to provide active leadership to the management team, be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the operations of the club, monitor and adjust financial performance and provide guidance to the General Manager on governance matters. The Assistant General Manager must be a hands-on interactive leader who directly monitors the operation and mentors the staff throughout each day, delivering a high level of satisfaction in all operations and amenities. Qualified candidates will thrive in a high pace hospitality environment, will have a strong financial background and be highly focused on providing superior service for members and their guests.
Key Responsibilities: Leads regular leadership meetings aimed at ensuring coordination of all areas of the club and at addressing pending issues as a team. Promotes active communication in all areas and strong collaboration across departments. Maintains close contact with members on a daily basis to ensure member satisfaction expectations are exceeded. Oversees the resolution of member, guest and employee feedback and challenges in a timely manner. Ensures the highest standards are achieved through adhering to proper operating procedures. Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals and expenses as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, etc)business volume forecasts. Monitors all financial reports/statements on a monthly basis and recommends effective corrective action in cases of any negative budget variance. Collaborates with key managers on developing and monitoring business plans Oversee the care and maintenance of all the facility's physical assets. Supports and guides the team with the creation of programs to promote the facility's services to potential customers. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training new hires. Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate. Reinforces with key department heads the need for training programs to include but not limited to member service, food and beverage service training, train the trainer programs, safety and other programs. Will be responsible for evaluating work performance of direct reports. Develops and maintains a positive management philosophy to guide personnel toward optimal operating results, employee morale and member satisfaction.
