Schedule: Monday - Friday / 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (On-Site) The Assistant Controller is a key financial strategist responsible for supporting the organization's financial operations. This role involves preparing accurate financial statements and analyses, analyzing budget variances, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing valuable data analysis to support informed decision-making. The Assistant Controller collaborates with cross-functional teams, supports financial planning, and implements effective internal controls.
Prepares monthly internal and external financial statements, inclusive of quarterly reports for board of directors, lenders, and ad hoc analyses and reporting for external stakeholders. Coordinates the financial integration of new acquisitions. Responsible for debt accounting and related reporting. Coordinates survey and regulatory filings and contributes to accounting effort to support business filings for programs. Contributes to the preparation of annual budgets. Drives departmental SOP documentation initiative and serve as change agent to drive departmental objectives in support of organizational goals Supervises and mentors Accountant(s), responsible for any or all of the following: prepaids/accruals, fixed asset accounting, lease accounting, real and personal property tax reporting, bank reconciliations, insurance accounting, revenue/bad debt/AR, and payroll accounting and reporting. Review and approval of journal entries, reconciliations, and census/survey reporting related to the same Ownership for the administration of ancillary financial systems (not limited to lease accounting software) and participates in the administration of the ERP system. Assists in the coordination of the external audit and annual tax filing processes. Supports the implementation of internal controls Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles within depth knowledge and experience with ASC 842 and ASC 606. Proven ability to prepare, read, and analyze GAAP basis financial statements as well as accurately interpret legal documents. Advanced Excel skills as well as ability to quickly learn and utilize cloud-based ERP systems (preferable Intacct or similar). Minimum 1 year of supervisory experience inclusive of periodic performance reviews and recruiting. Experience with lease accounting, expense reimbursement, and data base software highly preferred. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and board of directors. Excellent at defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Affinity for responding timely, professionally, and empathetically to inquiries from staff, internal business partners, regulatory agencies, members of the business community, and board members. Growth-minded professional who can remain collaborative and patient, while managing competing or changing priorities. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 4-6 years of progressive accounting experience in a control environment. MSAcc or MBA required. Active CPA license strongly preferred.
