Assistant Community Relations Manager (Administrative Officer III) Location Baltimore, MD (Mount Vernon area) : **Open To All Qualified Candidates** This is a position-specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) position/function only. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the State of Maryland. Nature of Work : The Assistant Community Relations Manager promotes awareness and involvement of stakeholders for MDTA projects and programs that impact communities. They contribute to the oversight of the Public Involvement Section which consists of teams responsible for undertaking outreach activities. Work conditions vary depending on assignments and are performed in the office or at other MDTA locations or other external sites. The employee in this position may be required to work various shifts and on weekends depending on assignments. The duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Works to engage community leaders, decisionmakers, partners and the public about MDTA's planning, design, and construction projects; Assists the Community Relations Project Manager by coordinating community relations efforts with the respective project managers; Works with consultants to develop project engagement plans. Assists in the development of meeting displays, newsletters, mailings, and graphics/visuals for projects and meetings; Attends project management meetings; and Coordinates and facilitates public meetings both in-person and virtually. This position will report to the Community Relations Manager . The current vacancy is located in Baltimore, MD . Hybrid telework schedules may be available for this position. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Three (3) years of experience in administrative or professional work. **One (1) year of this experience must include public relations work related to community involvement projects. The ideal candidate will possess the following:
Experience developing and implementing email campaigns for stakeholder notifications Experience running a virtual and hybrid meeting for public engagement Experience planning a community engagement event Excellent communication skills; writing, public speaking, phone, and email Excellent presentation development skills **This statement contains a SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION, which is more focused in scope than the Minimum Qualifications for this classification. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
