Position Summary
Bancroft School seeks an Assistant College Counselor to support the Director of College Counseling.  Working closely with the Director of College Counseling and the Head of Upper School, the Assistant College Counselor ensures that the college counseling needs of all of our students are met. The Assistant College Counselor organizes, coordinates, and performs administrative duties requiring independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality. Strong organizational and communication skills and a professional customer service-oriented demeanor are essential to this position.
Roles and Responsibilities Work with the Director of College Counseling to ensure that the College Counseling office is a well-organized and welcoming part of the Upper School. Create financial aid programming with the Director to service the needs of a diverse student population, including webinars, presentations and workshops for sophomores, juniors, and seniors and their families. Maintain and share scholarship, educational advancement, and study abroad programming information with students. Maintain administration of Naviance platform functions. Help coordinate college representative visits and interactions. Coordinate testing for College Board exams. Manage college counseling calendars with the Director. Work in tandem with the Registrar to manage student records. Essential Attitudes & Aptitudes A high degree of cultural competency and an ability to respond with care and effectiveness to the needs of a diverse population of students and families A collaborative spirit A willingness to participate in and partner with colleagues on cultural and curricular initiatives An understanding of and love for Upper School students The ability to learn and become proficient with emerging technologies Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Deep understanding of college counseling and admissions processes. Prior years of experience in an academic office setting. Enthusiasm about working with children, adolescents, and their families; greeting guests; and creating a welcoming environment while consistently providing a high level of customer service. Excellent computer skills including high proficiency in Google Suite and experience with Blackbaud or other school-based data systems. Ability to effectively multi-task while maintaining a detail-oriented, flexible, unflappable, and energetic demeanor with a strong emphasis on customer service. Bancroft seeks dynamic candidates who will be active participants in the community beyond the classroom, with interest in supporting extracurricular activities in athletics, clubs, and other programs.
