Job Summary: This will be a full-time academic plastic surgery appointment at the Assistant / Associate Professor level with Quillen College of Medicine of East Tennessee State University in the Department of Surgery / Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Primary duties will include support of the plastic surgery needs of the Bristol Regional Medical Center and associated surgical practices. The surgeon would also develop an elective practice in Bristol, consisting of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures. The practice is expected to consist primarily of breast reconstruction, elective general plastic surgery, Mohs reconstruction, skin cancer, and other areas as tailored to the expertise and interests of the surgeon. The surgeon will join a growing Division of Plastic Surgery at ETSU and work collaboratively within the division to meet the region's reconstructive and plastic surgery needs. Bristol is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and captures the beauty of the Appalachian Highlands. East Tennessee State University's Quillen College of Medicine is one of the nation's leading schools for rural medicine and primary care training. In addition to comprehensive primary care services, Quillen brings highly trained surgical specialists to the region including trauma surgery, pediatric surgery, hepatobiliary, vascular surgery, and plastic and reconstructive surgery. The area offers excellent schools, a low cost of living, and a wealth of outdoor activities from hiking the Appalachian trail to discovering new waterfalls, whitewater rafting/kayaking, or fly fishing. The Tri-Cities region is the fifth largest Combined Statistical Area in Tennessee with an estimated 500,538 people. While Bristol is named a small city, it is recognized as a growth center for the area with many attractions including the Bristol Motor Speedway, the Birthplace of Country Music Museum, the Hard Rock Casino, and the annual Rhythm and Roots Festival.
