Asset Manager Department: Finance Employment Type: Full Time Location: Minnesota Description
The Asset Management Lead supports Novel Energy Solutions ("NES") growing pipeline of operating solar assets. This position will be the main point of contact for multiple assets, each with their own unique obligations and contracts. The Asset Management Lead will ensure that NES operates with superior operational and technical performance as well as reliability, profitability, contract compliance, decision making, problem solving, regulatory compliance, and safety.
What You'll Do: Serve as Portfolio Asset Manager responsible for aspects of commercial, technical, and financial management of operating solar photovoltaic (PV) assets. Leverage knowledge of broader industry and regulatory structure, compliance aspects of operational PV oversight and technical asset performance (electrical system design and mechanics) Monitor and execute contractual and regulatory compliance matters related to operating assets Track technical and financial metrics to maximize asset performance and drive operational movements Liaise with O&M (Operations and Maintenance) group on an on-going basis to ensure compliance with service contracts and project requirements Manage proper books and records of operating assets Ensure timely and accurate delivery of reporting to project counterparties, including monthly operating reports, financial, regulatory filings and technical reports Maintain and refine, as needed, the existing Budget Forecast With assistance from Project Finance, lead the creation of accurate budget tracking processes Prepare and submit scheduled and unscheduled draw/transfer requests in accordance with the finance documents Work with the Accounting team to ensure revenue is received and expenses are paid in accordance with contract terms Fulfill regulatory filing obligations, both initial and ongoing - including but not limited to EIA, WREGIS, FERC/NERC, and any state or local regulatory requirements Assist Tax Accounting on both the initial and ongoing annual property tax filings Contribute to the continued improvement of Asset Management policies and procedures with the aim of efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy Track PPA obligations and work cross-functionally to ensure compliance Document the timely completion of all compliance obligations Generate periodic financial performance assessments of operating portfolios as requested by senior management. Communicate closely with the O&M and Finance departments to bring substantive issues to light that may require focused attention or supplemental reporting. Manage relationships with key stakeholders and serve the point as of contact for project customers and landowners Manage contractual REC obligations and relationships Prepare recurring and ad hoc reporting for financing partners, including distribution waterfalls for investors and lease payments to banks Work closely with Development/Business Development, Project Management & Engineering, and Project Finance teams to successfully onboard new assets and capture all obligations in tracking system What You'll Need: Minimum of 3 years of prior renewable energy asset management experience with an emphasis on financial and regulatory compliance Bachelor's degree in finance, Economic, Accounting, Business, or equivalent experience Thorough understanding of current renewable energy finance structures Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint Proficiency with Acumatica or similar ERP software Ability to communicate effectively with financial partners, regulatory agencies, regional utilities, and corporate energy buyers Deep understanding of operating contracts, with a strong ability to identify and interpret relevant clauses and negotiation as needed Strong understanding of accounting Excellent written and verbal communication skills Bonus Points: Experience in the transition of renewable energy projects from construction to long-term financing under various finance structures Proficiency with Procore, or other construction management software
