Program Overview: SACAP (Substance Abuse Centralized Assessment Program) provides assessment and referral services to public assistance clients who may have substance abuse related barriers to work. Program staff members link individuals to chemical dependency treatment and also reviews progress to assist them in recovery leading to self-sufficiency.
The AG conducts substance abuse assessments under the supervision of a qualified CASAC, determining clients' appropriate leave of care and making referrals to treatment when indicated. The Assessment Generalist (AG) also reviews Quarterly Progress Reports submitted by treatment programs to clinically assess if the client is meeting goals towards employment and self-sufficiency. 
Position Summary The AG conducts substance use assessments under the supervision of a qualified CASAC, determining clients' appropriate level of care and making referrals to treatment when indicated.
The Assessment Generalist (AG) reviews Quarterly Progress Reports on clients submitted by treatment programs to clinically assess if the client is progressing in treatment, should remain at that level of care and to determine if client is meeting goals toward employment/self-sufficiency.
Essential Functions
• Review Quarterly Progress Reports on clients in Residential Treatment, Outpatient Services, and Harm Reduction programs to determine progress in treatment and appropriateness to remain at that level of care.
• Meet the department's productivity and quality expectations for reviewing reports.
• Complete an agency tracking Log on each QPR reviewed, capturing client demographics, review summary, and outcome recommendation.
• Utilize HRA computer systems (STARS and NYC WAY) to review client's public assistance case, enter relevant data, and make recommendations; also verify that appropriate codes are entered into the systems.
• Appropriately identify Quarterly Progress Reports that may not need review due to client belonging to a Case Management Program, or the report being a duplicate, among other reasons. Consult with a Supervisor on these reports.
• Complete Substance Use assessments which are well-written, utilizing clinical language, and communicating assessment outcomes to Supervising CASAC before finalizing outcome data.
• Conduct Substance Use assessment on public assistance clients to determine severity of substance use, treatment needs, and make treatment referrals under the supervision of a qualified CASAC.
• Identify reports where clients require reassessment, and take required steps to call client back, and also notify HRA of the need for reassessment via STARS.
• Meet the department's productivity and quality expectations for completing assessments when QPRs are not available, or when assessments are required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Criteria that would be desirable but not required
Assessment Generalist position is for a CASAC-T with experience, who is CASAC test-ready. Must have completed the OASAS requirements of 350 educational hours and at least 5000 work hours in an OASAS licensed treatment program of the 6000 required to take the test. The additional hours can be provided by working at SUCAP. Certificate active NYS CASAC-Trainee or CASAC
Minimum Knowledge Requires thorough knowledge of a specialized or technical field. May compile objective and measurable data and produce reports. May require operating knowledge of manufacturing or computer equipment, OR may require broad knowledge in clerical or service areas.
Updating of Knowledge The knowledge required to perform this job once learned has frequent changes, but the changes are relatively minor. M-F 9-5 on site in Union Square Salary $45,000/year
