Responsibilities
• Performs routine and preventive maintenance on facilities and electrical, mechanical, plumbing and steam equipment in assigned area(s) and maintains appropriate records• Performs emergency repair work• Performs inspections of assigned areas to determine operating efficiency and locate and alleviate potential malfunctions• Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions on electrical equipment, appliances, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, heating, air conditioning and ventilating equipment controls• Checks and completes shop work orders, submits paperwork as required• Inspects and reports building problems involving carpentry, painting, roof, masonry, and plastering and performs necessary repairs• Establishes and maintains effective communication with personnel in assigned area and other shops• Maintains operating inventory of spare parts and supplies
Requirements
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electricity, maintenance of steam and mechanical equipment• Four years of work experience in the listed crafts, including apprenticeship or technical training• Broad range of maintenance experience for commercial properties• Experience with welding, plumbing, and basic electrical work• Ability to lift 50 pounds• Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams, equipment specifications, schematics• Ability to work in a variety of environments and exposure to temperature extremes, radiation, and toxic chemicals• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
