Position Details Position Information Position Title Area Coordinator Position Number 381451 Salary Range $40,000.00 Position Type Unclassified Staff Department Information Ending Effective Date of Temporary Employment Department Residential Living Job Duties Responsibility / Duty Residence Life Responsibilities: 30% This is a twelve-month full-time live-in position that oversees and coordinates the daily operations of residential facilities. Assist the Director in the implementation of all programs and operations set forth in the written goals and objectives of Residential Living, which support the mission of the University; Manages critical incidents/resident interventions and communicates all pertinent information as appropriate; Participate in the selection, department training, and evaluation of all paraprofessional staff within the department; Works closely with departmental maintenance and custodial staff to ensure a well-maintained environment. Respond to student concerns through engaging in conversations, providing referrals, and collaborating with offices on and off campus to assure the concerns are addressed. Act independently in appropriate areas of responsibility, including roommate mediation, checkout fines, and lost key charges/replacement process. Oversee and monitor the day-to-day programmatic and community development efforts for the entire residential community. Assists in reporting and following up in a timely manner with custodial and maintenance issues to ensure a safe residential environment; Participates in professional staff "on-call" rotation. Fulfill week-long on-call responsibilities for the residential campus. Even when not on call includes being available at all hours for crisis intervention and support. Collaborate with the coordinator of contracts and assignments to facilitate room changes where appropriate. Prepares and presents during orientations and other recruitment initiatives. Maintain and follow up with duties pertaining to emotional support animals that are granted access to the residential living space. Complete follow-up meetings and issue violation notices. Percentage Of Time 30 Responsibility / Duty Administrative Responsibilities: 25% Direct day-to-day operations of assigned residential communities. Assist in the day-to-day management and oversight of the Office of Residential Living Assist in the development and proper interpretation of policies and procedures among staff and students. Serve as a liaison to other university departments such as University Police, Health Services, Counseling Center, and Student Affairs. Serve on campus committees and task forces as assigned Work to advance the University, Division of Student Affairs, and Residential Living's strategic plan through participation in goal setting, program implementation, committee/task force work, and assessment efforts. Attend various meetings on a weekly/biweekly basis including, but not limited to Residential Living staff meetings, professional development sessions, area staff meetings, committee meetings, and weekly meetings with students and supervisors. Coordinate special projects as assigned. Designated as a Responsible Employee under Title IX and the University's Equal Opportunity Plan Serve as a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act; Accountable for ensuring that affirmative action, equal opportunity, and diversity are integrally tied to all actions and decisions in areas of responsibility. During hurricane season the Coordinator will also assist in the evacuation process of residential students and will accompany them to LA Tech, including those campus residents without evacuation plans. Percentage Of Time 25 Responsibility / Duty Family Housing Apartment Complex Responsibilities: 15% Coordinates the marketing of Family Housing to prospective Residents. Plan, implement, and evaluate programming and services offered for complex residents Maintains an accurate database of current tenants and updates the waitlist as needed. Communicates in written and oral form, the rental and contractual policies regarding the Family Housing Apartments. Processes applications, collect deposits, prepares deposit reports for the Controller's Office, Records the move-in and move-out dates of the tenants and notifies appropriate University departments. Ensures that all tenants pay rent on time and sends late rent notices as needed. Evicts tenants when applicable. Percentage Of Time 15 Responsibility / Duty Summer Camps and Conferences Responsibilities: 15% coordinates with Continuing Education the housing accommodations for summer camps and conference groups, including assignments, keys, and student staff coverage; A coordinator is responsible for the weekly work schedule of summer employees. Ensures a staff member is present at the welcome desk 24 hours a day while camps are present. Responds to all emergency situations that arise whether camper-related or facility related. Manages and prepares the recorded hours for payment and double checks with Summer Supervisors to verify hours worked. Supervise Summer Conference Supervisors Maintain Card access door schedule with Director for Colonel Card Services Collaborate with the Assistant Director to compile and assess camp bills Act as backup to the other Area Coordinator to complete responsibilities Supervision of Area Coordinator's daily operations shifts to the Assistant Director during the summer Percentage Of Time 15 Responsibility / Duty Residence Hall Association and Programming Budget Management: 10% Oversee and manage an annual programming budget of $20,000.00 on average. Maintain and archive current and past programming budget sheets. Maintain accurate records of book-keeping for programming, including but not limited to programming change, receipts, and checks. Responsible for turning over and managing the Residence Hall Association bank account with Capital One. Handle programming proposals and write programming checks weekly for residence hall staff members. Collect, organize, and deposit RHA dues ($10.00/student/semester) into the bank account. Co-Advise the Residence Hall Association with the assistance of the other Area Coordinator Percentage Of Time 10 Responsibility / Duty Student Conduct Adjudication: 5% Enforce policy and department-wide judicial/ educational discipline programs. Review disciplinary and other incident reports and follow up as necessary; Primary Conduct Officer for the Office of Residential Living Evaluates and assign cases to specified hearing officers Responsible for the training and organization of hearing officers/adjudication process with the guidance of the Director of Residential Living Adjudicate policy violations as detailed in the Student Handbook and Community Code of Conduct, exercising appropriate professional judgment and ensuring due process. Percentage Of Time 5 Posting Detail Information Minimum Experience Required 1-2 Years of undergraduate housing or student affairs experience. Minimum Education Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Minimum Licenses Required Other Minimum Requirements Ability to work with a diverse population of students, faculty, and staff.
