Job Summary:

The Applications Developer II is responsible for supporting software systems by analyzing problems and solutions, developing new code, modifying existing code, implementing delivered and custom applications, and documenting systems; consulting with users to identify current business processes and to clarify program objectives.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:

1. Provides systems development engineering assistance by analyzing, designing, and programming viable solutions for medium complexity business problems according to user specifications and develop detailed program specifications; serving as a communications liaison between the business customer and the technology development and support groups; identifying process or system enhancements for business customers; researching and recommending alternative actions for problem resolution; reviewing and making recommendations to improve and streamline processes; assisting in evaluating and recommending emerging technologies; developing cost analysis estimates; employing productivity aids in all aspects of assignments; supporting the organization's project management policies, practices, and methodologies.
2. Supports productions by responding to and solving production program problems; mentoring and coaching others to prevent problems from reoccurring.
3. Produces deliverable quality product by participating in system and acceptance testing; testing and implementing system components using techniques that preserve system integrity.
4. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in experience.
• 2 years experience in programming and working with application systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge to troubleshoot software processes and related issues.
• Knowledge of software development, practice, concepts, and technology obtained through formal training and/or work experience.
• Knowledge of at least one DBMS.
• Knowledge of customer service techniques.
• Knowledge of a programming language, applications, or enterprise toolset required by the department.
• Knowledge of communication and negotiation techniques.
• Skill in programming.
• Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to work independently and on a team.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):

• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:

• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
