Base Pay Range: $84,800.00 - $144,200.00 Annually

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. Central Engineering is KLA's largest engineering organization comprised of 9 Centers-of-Excellence (CoE) in various disciplines applied across all product groups in the company. These CoE include Handling & Automation, Precision Motion Control, Sensors & Image Acquisition, Platform Design, and Packaging Engineering, among others. Talent includes over 500 engineers across global centers in Israel, China, India, and the US. Each CoE contributes not just talent and deliverables per discipline toward product programs, but also subject matter expertise, best practices, roadmaps, specialized facilities, apparatus, models, and analytics. KLA Applications Engineering team at Ann Arbor, is looking for a high energy, self-driven, motivated engineer, who is interested in working in a high-tech environment.
The semiconductor space is a fast-paced, vibrant environment that gives application engineers considerable autonomy to work and drive projects on their own. Ideal candidates will appreciate the opportunity to have high levels of accountability, working well with limited supervision and thrive in a work environment where they can lead their own projects.
The selected candidate will provide application engineering support to KLA's state-of the art inspection and metrology products.
The Applications Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing functionality for existing and pre-release products to solve critical customer problems. The responsibilities can be broken down as following – Product Development: Focus on projects related to new product introduction such as characterization, alpha and beta testing, pilot tools in the ramp phase and penetration of next gen semiconductor equipment. This includes designing test plans, collecting data, performing analysis, documenting all test results and lessons learned in BKMs (Best Known Methods), training documents, demo reports, and/or Alpha/Beta test reports and transfer product knowledge to Field Applications teams. Use-case Demos: Identifying and implementing new applications and use-cases to maintain KLA's competitive advantage. In addition, they will conduct new tool demonstrations to showcase tool performance and support long term adoption to help drive tool sales. Conduct technical training including on-site training of KLA's field application engineers and end users. Customer support: Includes product value demonstration, Head-to-Heads (H2H) and tools in the ramp phase at customer facilities. In addition, this may also include investigating manufacturing yield issues to provide best in class solutions, supporting product development of a system at a customer site, creating & sharing product value statements with engineering, marketing and sales groups, training customers and other applications engineers.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelors, Masters or PhD, in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Material Science or related fields. Strong troubleshooting skills combined with a methodical approach. Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Well organized, self-driven, strong follow-up abilities, demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic technical environment. Matlab or knowledge of any other scripting skills is a plus. Background in IC processing/Semiconductor equipment is a plus. This position may require up to 50% domestic and possibly international travel.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
