Position Summary:

The University at Buffalo, a distinguished public research institution and the State University of NY's flagship university, is seeking talented and motivated Application Development Analysts to join the Enterprise Application Services (https://www.buffalo.edu/ubit/about/our-people/vpcio/units/eas.html) unit. As an integral member of one of Western New York's largest and most innovative IT organizations, the Application Development Analyst will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining cutting-edge software solutions for enterprise applications.

Responsibilities:

Software Development:

Design, develop, test, and maintain application software for UB's enterprise systems.

Document software specifications to ensure clarity and maintainability.

Collaboration in Agile Environment:

Work collaboratively with team members and customers in an Agile environment, fostering effective communication and iterative development.

Customer Interaction:

Work directly with customers to develop specifications, ensuring a clear understanding of requirements.

Engage with end-users to gather feedback and address user needs.

Quality Assurance:

Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.

Conduct quality assurance activities to ensure the reliability and efficiency of developed applications.

Web Development Techniques:

Understand and utilize contemporary web development tools and techniques to create scalable and secure solutions.

Technology Adoption and Innovation:

Stay informed about new technologies, tools, and industry trends.

Identify and implement opportunities to improve enterprise IT services through the integration of innovative solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 3 years of experience in the Information Systems field (includes internships and relevant projects) or master's degree or professional certification with 1 year of relevant experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered

Demonstrated competency with at least one of the following languages: Angular, Java, JavaScript, Perl, PHP , C, C++, SQL or PeopleCode

Preferred Qualifications:

A degree in a technical field

Understanding and experience with contemporary web development tools and techniques

Familiarity with contemporary application development tools and concepts such as automated testing, DevOps toolchains, containerization and Agile development practices
