About the College/Unit/Department: The Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) manages and executes the financial aid operations, programs, and processes for the campus. OSFA oversees the administration of federal, state, and institutional aid provided to the UGA student body. With approximately 42 employees OSFA has responsibility for all financial aid received by the UGA student body in the form of grants, scholarships, loans, and work programs. Minimum Qualifications: Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience working in student financial aid administration preferred.
Position Summary: Analyze system requirements and prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Formulate and define system scope and objectives to develop or modify business applications. Develop, code, test, implement and document internal web sites and applications using state-of-the-art program and system development tools, languages and database structures. Support production application system operation as needed. Configure and administer Windows servers with an emphasis on network security. Support OSFA's use of the Content document imaging system and CampusLogic applications. Familiarity with CRM systems is desired.
This individual supports the Office of Student Financial Aid in the integration, implementation and operation of financial aid applications and UGA in the administration of institutional scholarships and awards. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies: Ability to acquire new technical skills, apply those skills in the development of software solutions, and effectively convey new knowledge to colleagues. Excellent communication and organizational skills needed. Physical Demands: Sitting for long periods, working with a keyboard, mouse and monitor. Duties/Responsibilities: Autonomously analyze system requirements and prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written. Define, develop and implement applications systems for computing needs that reflect client requests. Determine detail program and data requirements. Formulate and define system scope and objectives to develop or modify business applications. Interview and consult with clients; gather data. Provide system design services to clients; scope is not limited to individual department needs, but to enterprise-wide needs. Recommend technologies and propose solutions to meet customer requirements. Design programs from business requirements. Interact with user and systems management to plan and implement system policies. Organize existing resources to implement the most appropriate solution. Run and develop database queries as needed utilizing MySQL and PL/SQL and the ARGOS reporting tool. Maintain a broad knowledge of emerging programming language(s), database management systems, and other tools to be utilized or to support OSFA. Possess a keen understanding of project management skills. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of business practices and effectively convey knowledge to colleagues. Percentage of time: 50
Duties/Responsibilities: Design, develop, test and maintain OSFA's internal web sites and applications built using PHP with the Zend framework; these sites utilize JavaScript and MySQL databases. Assist with ConnectUGA (Banner) and CampusLogic integrations with OSFA systems. Configure and administer Windows server with an emphasis on network security, including firewall configuration, cryptography, and SSL Certificates. Design, implement, and maintain databases RDBMS (MySQL). Support use of Content document imaging system and its integration with office IT resources including the creation of Workflows, maintaining user roles and other tasks. Percentage of time: 30
Duties/Responsibilities: Perform as a technical Team Lead for office projects, analyzing user needs in light of available resources. Maintain computer and network security. Cultivate effective working relationships between IT and users to maintain ongoing awareness of information needs and uses. Develop documentation to explain the use of various software applications and network design for clients. Be on call for critical/core systems/application support 24/7. Provide emergency response for critical systems and applications. Develop software solutions to satisfy customer ad hoc requirements. Percentage of time: 10
Duties/Responsibilities: Act as back-up to OSFA's IT Professional Specialist in maintaining office network, computers, and printers. Serve as the Assistant Domain Network Liaison for OSFA in server and computer network management. Support remote OSFA sites. Percentage of time: 5
Duties/Responsibilities: Represent OSFA at UGA-wide technical meetings. Support other Office of Student Financial Aid projects. Perform other duties as assigned. Percentage of time: 5
