We are seeking an Accounting Analyst to join our Investment Accounting team. This role is responsible for reviewing and performing certain investment accounting functions for the Company's $79 billion investment portfolio. This role will work closely and collaboratively with numerous areas including other areas of accounting, investment management, investment operations, asset/liability management, finance, and corporate planning.ResponsibilitiesThe candidate selected for the role will work alongside a team of accounting professionals and be responsible for investment accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to, the following:Complete quarterly and annual GAAP & Dai-ichi (parent company) financial reporting packagesEnsure the data integrity of inputs into PAM (Protective's investment accounting system)Execute various month-end close processes (data validation and compliance, variance analysis, subledger balancing, etc.)Perform key investment accounting functions/reporting as they may change from period to periodDevelop deepening understanding of investment accounting function and how it affects the organization - we are relied upon as subject-matter experts within the organization with respect to securities accountingCooperate with accounting policy team to implement new accounting standards and requirements and ensure compliance with existing regulationsApply problem-solving skills to understand and resolve issues in coordination with both internal and external data providersAssist with the development, management, and maintenance of investment-related data used for internal and external reporting including transactions, positions, performance, and analysisWork with acquisitions team to onboard new assets from acquirees and ensure prompt and accurate integration into Protective's systemsPerform PAM Administrator functions including system testing and special projects as neededFunction as a key team member on various Investment Accounting projectsCreate and maintain process documentation and work instructions for job functionsComplete various ad hoc requests/projectsCross-train on various tasks and responsibilities to improve flexibility in the event of a team member's absence or in order to balance workload to meet deadlinesQualifications/EducationBachelor of Science in Accounting from an accredited university 2+ years of accounting experienceCPA designation is a plusCandidate must exhibit intellectual curiosity and be a lifelong learnerSolid analytical skills, high level of accuracy, excellent attention to detail, with ability to communicate effectively, accurately, and in a professional mannerExposure to GAAP and Statutory Accounting is a plusPrevious experience with Investments is a plusExperience in Microsoft Excel and Office SuiteTechnically proficient with systems (PAM is a plus). Must understand systems and processes in order to follow procedure and information flows.Strong organization and time-management skills to accomplish all tasks in established deadlinesAbility to take ownership of, develop, and complete complex, multifaceted projectsMust be able effectively to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environmentAbility to work independently and as part of a team taking on new responsibilities with a high level of importanceAbility to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of work productAbility to work closely with all Investment Accounting managers and teams (Securities, Derivatives, and Mortgage Loans) - prior experience a plusProtective's targeted salary range for this position is $61,000 to $85,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective's total compensation package for employees.This position also offers additional incentive opportunities [through an annual incentive based on individual and Company performance] OR [through cash compensation as part of a sales incentive plan (SIP).
