Application Deadline Date: August 28, 2023 Responsibilities Conducts and supervises daily activities of unusually complex systems (M-5, FuelMaster) to ensure compliance with fiscal principles, city policies, and other regulatory requirements. Generates internal department reports and submits financial data to the City Controller's Office. Provides moderate technical assistance for interpretation of policies and procedures, and corrective actions to ensure the most effective and efficient use of financial information. Prepares, reviews, records, and analyzes information needed for financial projections, periodic reporting, and budgetary processes, and provides information to managers. Prepares, processes, and checks benefits claims, vendor accounts, travel requests, and reconciliation documents. Ensures accurate and timely processing of journal vouchers, credit card transactions, and other financial activities and documents. Monitors, evaluates, and classifies capital and equipment transactions and conducts periodic inventories to provide accountability of the fixed assets. Assists in year-end debt reporting and maintenance of required debt reserve funds. Monitors all procurement processes for the division and ensures purchasing is done in the most cost-effective manner. Prepares a request for supplies and services to obtain purchase orders. Develops policies, procedures, and process improvements to assist with proper maintenance, benchmarking, and performance tracking activities. Conducts comprehensive analysis of business processes, workflows, and systems to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Collects and analyzes data to evaluate business performance, identify trends, and provide insights for informed decision-making. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define business requirements, develop solutions, and support the implementation of new initiatives. Prepares and presents reports, recommendations, and findings to senior management. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications REQUIRES an accredited Master's degree in public or business administration, urban or regional planning, economics, accounting, finance or a related field; OR an accredited Bachelor's degree and 1 year of professional experience in public or business administration, corporate or municipal finance, budget, research, accounting or a related field. Preference given for intermediate/advanced experience in accounting (Account Reconciliation, AR/AP, Expenses), Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Subtotals, and analytical skills.
