Salary range: $52,555 - $85,400/year
General Responsibilities
The Ambulatory Telehealth Educator supports efforts to facilitate the achievement of UAB Medicine's
vision and strategy for the effective use and application of clinical information and technology. The
Ambulatory Educator positively influences health care delivery and patient care outcomes, promotes
quality initiatives and makes efficient use of resources. This position serves multiple education roles for
UAB Medicine and the Alliance whose audiences include patients, providers, and staff. The position
provides training and education on Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop mobile applications, devices,
and e-commerce to empower self-monitoring and proactive management of common, high prevalence
conditions. The position also assists with the preparation and conducting of telehealth video visits.
Key Duties & Responsibilities 1. Provides training and education to patients, consumers, providers, and staff on telehealth remote
monitoring systems:
a) Education on health-related mobile applications
b) Collaborate with super users to augment the telehealth support of Ambulatory eMedicine
and Health Loop applications.
c) Provides Go Live support with eMedicine staff for Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop
implementations.
d) Provides ongoing support for Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop.
2. Participates in Clinical Adoption efforts for Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop implementations
and upgrades:

a) Effectively participates in training teams in a matrix reporting structure, as well as supports
collaboration and encourages acceptance of and enthusiasm for changes associated with Care
Transformation.
b) Contributes to establishing credibility among stakeholders
c) Recognizes the impact of change and strategically supports communication and education
efforts.
d) Assists in supporting Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop strategic and tactical plans.
e) Assists in implementing plans and strategies for gaining physician acceptance and
promoting ongoing use of Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop.
f) Works with clinical users to adopt new workflows and tools.
g) Maps real-life clinical practices to informatics applications.
3. Serves as a clinical consultant in the implementation of Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop
systems:
a) Functions as a Clinical Information resource and collaborates with all levels of leadership,
team members and physicians to enhance use and efficiency of clinical systems.
b) Provides consultation and project support in conjunction with implementation teams and
project managers for the deployment of new Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop clinical
applications
c) Provides feedback regarding training sessions to appropriate leadership to mitigate
potential risks to adoption of Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop systems
4. Assists in the development of training materials:
a) Aids training team in the development of training guides
b) Works with training team and end users to develop appropriate work aids for end users
c) Work in conjunction with the training team to develop web based training materials
d) Help to identify areas of training that will need to be supported by additional training guides
or web based review
e) Develop post go live tips in conjunction with eMedicine staff to aid in the usability of
Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop systems.
5. Assists in testing :
a) Participates in testing Ambulatory eMedicine and Health Loop functionality.
b) Participates in integration testing for the implementation of new Ambulatory eMedicine and
Health Loop systems.
6. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
A Bachelor's degree in a Healthcare-related or Information Systems field. One (1) year of
experience with training adult learners at various skill levels. An Associate degree in an IT related field
may be considered. Preferred: Ambulatory clinical experience or Clinical information system experience in
a healthcare setting.
