DUTIES Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty Maintains and repairs aircraft components including, but not limited to, flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals Make necessary entries into aircraft logs and records Prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects Other duties as assigned EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or equivalent A&P license not required but a plus Must have experience with V-22 Prefer experience from military fixed wing community ("H- 1, H-53, AV-8, F/A-18, F-35 ") or civilian heavy structure background Minimum five (5) years heavy structure U.S. Military or related FAA or civil aviation Must be able to work in tight and enclosed spaces Must have thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts; broad knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair; basic knowledge of electrical theory, must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers. Must be able to read and interpret maintenance instruction manuals, blueprints, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components Must be a US Citizen Must be able to pass a National Agency background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to Government facilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales. Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear. Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
