About the Permian
Straddling West Texas and Southeastern New Mexico over an area roughly the size of Kansas, the Permian is the most prolific oil and gas basin in America and the engine behind the country's energy renaissance. Nationally, it provides about 40% of oil and 15% of gas production and plays a critical role in making the U.S. a leading energy exporter.
A key asset for ExxonMobil, the Basin accounts for about 40% of the Corporation's net oil and gas production in the U.S. in 2021, with significant future growth potential. Production reached more than 550,000 barrels per day in 2022 and is expected to surpass 800,000 barrels per day by 2027. Many of these molecules travel down to ExxonMobil's facilities along the Gulf of Mexico, where they are transformed into high-value finished products such as jet fuel and lubricants. The Permian Basin business unit also has the distinction of being the first at ExxonMobil to unveil and execute a plan for net zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions in operated assets by 2030, as part of the Corporation's broader 2050 net zero ambition.

What role you will play in our team
We are looking for an Air Quality Specialist to support our West Texas Operations within the Permian Basin.
You will office in Midland, TX and support Air Compliance Programs for production, compression and midstream surface facilities.
What you will do
Utilize understanding of Federal, State and Site-Specific rules/limits to enhance Air Compliance Programs
Develop informal and formal Operations Training Material
Respond to issues requiring accurate and timely reporting to State Agencies
Support Title V reporting workflows
Construct regulatory applicability determinations and upkeep
Support LDAR Programs and enhancements
Implement new rules and regulations
Identify facilities for air permit upgrades
Interface with GHG Reduction Team, Operations and Facilities Engineering to develop and enhance workflows regarding response of methane/emission detection initiatives including ground-based sensors, cameras, and aerial technologies
Support advocacy efforts for rulemaking
Support response to EPA, TCEQ and RRC regarding air compliance inquiries
Identify and support air compliance improvement initiatives
Support internal reviews including OIMS and Regulatory Compliance Assessments
Provide input to the annual Environmental Business Plan
Provide Operations and Management Line-of-Site to overall air compliance health
About you
Self-starter who has high attention to detail and follow-through.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interface and cultivate relationships with field personnel.
Ability to work long hours when business critical tasks must be completed within a timeframe.
Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks timely and accurately.
General understanding of upstream oil & gas facilities, equipment and operations
Preferred Qualifications/ Experience
5+ years of oil and gas experience
Versed in upstream oil & gas air regulation requirements including, but not limited to, New Source Performance Standards, GHG reporting, and Title V requirements
Experience with LDAR programs and reporting requirements
Knowledge of technologies used for emission detection and reporting
