POSITION SUMMARY: Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings by providing support for newly arrived Afghan clients in accessing legal services to assist in their immigration applications for asylum, special immigration visa status, temporary protected status, and adjustment of status, including interpreting in the office and at all relevant interviews with United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Learn and implement guidelines for services for the Afghan Legal Services (ALS) program set forth by the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and Kansas Office for Refugees (KSOR) and stay up-to-date on relevant developments and public policies that affect target populations.Conduct recruitment and transportation logistics for program participants, working with relevant partners, and monitoring program enrollment goals and outcomes.Cultivate positive relationships with relevant legal service providers.Ensure all contact with clients, referrals, follow-up and record-keeping represent the highest standards.Identify client and program needs, advocating for clients and working closely with the Managing Attorney to assure needs are addressed.Completes all grant reporting requirements, accurately reflecting outcomes, activities, and other grant-required data. Attend all relevant USCIS interviews as interpreter for both La Luz clients and any partnering attorneys.Interpret for the preparation appointments for relevant USCIS interviewsAssist Managing Attorney and Afghan Legal Coordinator with preparing and filing all types of relevant immigration applications for Afghan population.Other duties as assigned.MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:Demonstrate a passion for the mission of Catholic CharitiesMust be willing to perform by the agency's values: love, patience, kindness, faithfulness, self- control and joyCatholic Charities promotes a diverse workforce.
