ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER – PALLIATIVE CARE
Full Time, Charlottesville, VA
The UVA Section of Palliative Medicine seeks an experienced, full-time advanced practice provider (APP) to join a well-established Palliative Medicine Service dedicated to the care of the patients with life limiting illnesses within the University of Virginia Medical System. The successful APP candidate will engage in collaborative, team-based care primarily on the inpatient palliative consult service and inpatient hospice service within the University of Virginia Hospital.
Clinical responsibilities:
Medical assessment based on patient history, symptoms, and physical findings
Ordering of relevant diagnostic tests and development of evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with other primary treatment teams
Evaluation of patients for hospice services.
Collaboration with an inter-professional clinical team including nurses, physicians, social workers, and pharmacists with attention to the specific needs of patients with advanced illness and hospice patients.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited graduate school of nursing or physician assistant program with a master's degree.
Experience: Department and unit-specific. Successful candidates should have a strong interest in palliative and hospice care.
Licensure: License or license eligibility as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, and Certified Nurse Midwife) as set forth by the state of Virginia. If Nurse Practitioner, license to practice as a registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of UVA Health System, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Current PALS/NRP, as required specific to position. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), as required specific to position.
