Job SummaryThis position is responsible for determining the admissibility of first-time freshmen and graduate/post baccalaureate applicants to the University and CCPE Distance Learning Programs. The incumbent manages the Admissions ticketing system and responds to all inquiries in a professional and timely manner. They will be responsible for answering all phone inquiries received in the unit while adhering to service excellence standard. Communicates with students, parents, and counselors about the admission process and admission requirements. Resolves admission processing problems; determines residency status for admission and tuition purposes. Also responsible for data entry of application information for all new and returning applicants to the University., including coding and data entry of applications, changes to data, and verification of data in PeopleSoft. They will serve as a liaison with graduate advisors in the academic departments and advisors in the various credential programs offered by CSULB. Moreover, they will disseminate information regarding university policies and procedures for graduate studies to applicants, faculty, staff and the general public.Key ResponsibilitiesCodes, enters data, and reviews applications for completion.Calculates GPA and determines eligibility, provides an admission evaluation for admission of first-time freshmen and graduate/post-baccalaureate applicants.Assists with recording degree requirements, degree audits and posting degrees.Responsible for the admission or denial of freshman application and the processing of incoming transcripts, to including sorting, screening, and scanning.Act as a liaison with the graduate advisor, credential program advisor, department personnel and applicants for the resolution of admission issues and the dissemination of information regarding University policies and procedures.Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesData entry/computer (PeopleSoft) experience. Preferred experience with various software packages such as Microsoft windows, Microsoft excel, Microsoft word and Microsoft PowerPoint and Onbase. Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, staff and others regarding admission requirements, policies and procedures and promote a "student friendly service" image of Enrollment Services. Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with a large volume of documents, organize and coordinate different clerical tasks, set deadlines and complete projects successfully. Demonstrated ability to learn and apply complex unit, department and university policy and procedures. Demonstrated ability to communicate with ethnically and culturally diverse communities.Follows all University policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Hiring Range:The hiring range for this position is $3,680- $3,916 per month commensurate with candidate's education, experience, skills, and training.CSU Classification Salary Range:The CSU Classification Salary Range for this position is $3,680 - $5,783 per month.BenefitsExcellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.Time Base1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.Duration of AppointmentThis is a temporary position for one year with no permanent status granted.
