ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER I (Settlement Specialist) Location Baltimore, MD (Carroll Park area) : Introduction The Settlement area is responsible for the processing of big winner and prize settlement payments through the statewide Financial Management Information System (FMIS) and eBooks as well as payment processing from the Agency's bank accounts. This includes the daily end of day processing and reconciliation of federal taxes withheld from lottery winners and subsequent payment of taxes to the IRS. In addition, the Settlement area manages the Agency's cash receipts (i.e., checks received) process, state agency transfers for liability offsets from lottery winners, and certain banking functions including positive pay file uploads and exception reviews. Employees in this classification will report into the Settlement Supervisor. GRADE 13 LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency 1800 Washington Boulevard Baltimore, MD 21230 Main Purpose of Job The Settlement Specialist (Admin Officer I) is the staff level of the Claim and Prize settlement area of the Agency. The main purpose of this area is to maintain, reimburse and reconcile certain transactions that directly impact the Agency's bank accounts and budget as well as to assist and support the Accounting Department with the monthly and annual closings, inquiries (research and respond), transaction workflow, internal controls, reporting and their improvements. Employees in this classification will report into the Settlement Supervisor. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: One year of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

Proficient in Excel Experience With Financial reconciliation Experience With Payment/invoice processing LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
