Compensation: Based on Qualifications Compensation Type: Employee Employment Type: Salary Scheduled Weekly Hours: 2.25 Grade: Department: Instruction Position Summary Teaches education courses and performs instructional duties in diverse learning environments. Adjunct faculty is expected that faculty maintain current professional standards and practices, as well as attend committee/department meetings, and support the mission of SFCC. Must be committed to serving a diverse college community. Duties & Responsibilities Provide the most effective instruction possible in one's discipline to insure that the educational needs of students are met and that students achieve specified learning objectives. Teach assigned courses, whether on campus or off campus, day or evening, following the official syllabi and using approved textbooks and other learning materials. Meet all classes regularly and on time, as scheduled, and for their full duration. Evaluate student performance (attainment of learning objectives) and assign grades. Maintain all office hours and make arrangements for appointments with students at other times. Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, etc. Make arrangements with the department chair or assistant dean for covering classes when scheduling an absence. Meet all deadlines in submitting grades or other required information on students. Minimum Qualifications: Five (5) out of the last ten (10) years work experience in the welding field Preferred Qualifications Associate Degree Higher Teaching Experience or teacher training American Welding Society D1.1 and/or D1.3 Certifications; ASME Boiler and BPVC code Section IX certification; Amenable to teaching high school dual credit courses at off-site locations Additional Comments to Applicants: Applications are disqualified in the first level of review if they do not meet all Minimum Qualifications listed in this job posting.
