Job Summary Find your purpose in state service and make a difference in the lives of our Great Minnesota Veterans! The purpose of this position is to assist the Minnesota Veterans Home - Hastings Accounting Supervisor Senior in the areas of professional technical contracts management, budget development and management, inventory control and accounts payable. Monitor the Home's contracts to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions. The incumbent will also prepare annual and biennial budget documents, oversee and safeguard the fixed asset inventory system and inventory. This position also ensures that all funds are held in trust by the Home are properly safeguarded.
The Minnesota Veterans Home in Hastings is a Domiciliary (DOM) which is an independent living community for Veterans. It provides a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. Our rewarding program helps Veterans with their clinical, mental, chemical, and physical needs, and has the capacity to serve 195 Veterans between the Hastings and Minneapolis campuses. The Hastings DOM is located in the southeast metro with connecting highways for an easy commute. The beautiful 128-acre wooded campus includes mature oaks and pines, nature trails and biking paths overlooking the Vermillion River.

Minimum Qualifications Accounting experience that demonstrates the following:
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records, and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems. Skill in using an accounting system sufficient to query and compile records and reports and assist with the preparation and maintenance of spending plans, financial status reports and budget requests. Skill using spreadsheet and word processing software sufficient to prepare fiscal reports and correspondence. Ability to develop, implement, follow, explain, and guide staff on work procedures and requirements related to purchasing, inventory management, and other finance functions. Ability to travel between Hastings and Minneapolis Domiciliary Program and/or other business-related travels. Preferred Qualifications Skill in using SWIFT, Statewide Employee Management System (SEMA4) or equivalent. Knowledge of purchasing and sales transactions Degree and/or relevant education in Accounting, Finance and/or related field Additional Requirements A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position(s).
