Description: This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Accounting Technician position for the Accounts Payable and Travel department at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
The Accounting Technician is a member of the Accounts Payable Department, within the Controller's Unit. Accounts Payable provides critical accounting services to the Oregon State University campus, including invoice entry, invoice approval, check run processing, tax reporting, vendor master file management, travel management, credit card administration, and payment remediation. The incumbent supports the vendor master file operations within Accounts Payable. The Accounting Technician should possess excellent problem-solving skills to perform research and troubleshoot errors. This position will follow university internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information, promote accountability, and prevent fraud. It is expected that this position will follow all processes, use applicable documents/guides and escalate issues if they arise with regard to internal controls. Be able to work independently with little direct supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): 12 quarter hours (8 semester hours) of Accounting courses AND one of the following: An Associates Degree in Accounting; OR One year of experience that includes entering, compiling and/or reporting financial information; OR An equivalent combination of education and experience. Transcripts must be submitted for all required and/or related courses. All courses must be from accredited colleges, universities, or private vocational schools.
Requirements : Experience with large computerized record keeping and accounting systems. Strong organizational skills. Strong time management skills. Excellent attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal customer service skills. This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
