The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Accounting Specialist (Payroll).
General Description
Performs highly technical work reading, analyzing and auditing contracts. Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, but determines how or when to complete tasks.



Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, payroll or closely related experience.



Special Certifications and Licenses
None.



Preferences
Certified Payroll Specialist Working knowledge of Peoplesoft and Kronos Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
Strong Knowledge of federal and state regulations
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Associate's degree in a related field
American Payroll Certification
Working knowledge of payroll best practices
Oracle Experience DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary. Perform daily payroll department operations Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll Process manual check Reviews timecard Reports for hourly employees to make sure there are no errors. Makes sure all payroll accounts are balanced. Responds to inquiries from employees about salaries and wages. Work with Human Resources to ensure accuracy from data received Keeps detailed and organized payroll records. Performs related work as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT Physical Demands

Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
