The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process.  The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real time updates throughout the hiring process.  HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application's progress.  Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed.  After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from or (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

Working Conditions Normal work days are Monday through Friday. Core business hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Alternate work week schedule may be available (9-8-80) with sufficient supervisor coverage during the core business hours. During critical year-end activities, there are vacation/leave restrictions with established blackout dates that may vary due to the mission and the workload.  Generally they consist of dates the last week of June through mid to late July . Telework is currently an option (not 100%). ASB employees are required to be in the office 2 days per week and/or for operational needs. Supervisors are expected to open and close office on assigned dates and/or on a rotation schedule.
Special Requirements The position(s) require(s) completion of educational courses as specified in the Class Specification (link available in the Minimum Requirements section). Do not include ANY confidential information on any documents you submit for a job vacancy, such as your State application, resume, or educational transcripts.  Confidential information that should be excluded or removed from these documents includes, but is not limited to, your social security number SSN), birthdate, student identification number, driver license number (unless required), basis of eligibility, examination results, LEAP status, marital status, and age.  Confidential information on the first page of the application submitted electronically online, such as Easy ID number, SSN, examination related information, and driver's license number will automatically be redacted upon submission.
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment.  If you are meeting Minimum Qualification with education, you must include your unofficial transcript/diploma for verification.  Official transcripts may be required upon appointments.  If it is determine a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligibility to be hired for the position.  Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Broad.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department testing on an annual basis thereafter.
School Transcripts – Candidates who attended a college or university that is accredited by a foreign or non-US accrediting agency must have their educational units evaluated by an educational evaluation service.  The evaluation must include the name of the educational evaluation services, the date, and the name of the evaluator.  Contact your local college or university to learn where you can obtain this service.

This position is located in Southern California, in Imperial County.  It is two hours East of San Diego, California and one hour West of Yuma, Arizona and about 20 minutes from the Mexico Border.
STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS The candidate must provide a Statement of Qualification (SOQ) for the hiring manager's review. Applications received without an SOQ or those that do not respond to the specific questions listed below will not be considered.
The SOQ must be typed, titled " Statement of Qualifications" using Arial font (12pt) and no more than two (2) pages in length.
Comprehensive knowledge of general (e.g. GAAP, GASB) and governmental accounting principle and theories, of business law, of various control agencies, and regulations listed in the State Administrative Manual pertaining to accounting and budgeting. Experience in reconciliations, preparation, and review/audit of financial information, including the ability to perform calculations ( computations), interpret data and provide recommendations to management and staff. Extensive experience with computers applications particularly Microsoft software and knowledge of enterprise software.  Ability to extract relevant facts to solve problems or summarize information to complete assigned tasks; and interpret quantitative or statistical data to extract key information and make valid inferences.
Ability to independently prioritize and manage workload professionally with minimal supervision.
