Responsibilities The Accounting Associate will manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including outstanding collections follow up, ceded reinsurance billing, supplier maintenance, processing vendor and claim payment cash disbursements, and related journal entry into the PeopleSoft financial software.
Key functions include but are not limited to:
Perform premium accounts receivable duties, including timely follow up on aging balances and management reporting of outstanding amounts due. Process ceded reinsurance billings, including external distribution of invoices, follow up on outstanding amounts due, and management reporting. Perform accounts payable duties for MEC specific functions, including issuing payments and follow up on outstanding items to ensure proper compliance. Process claims reimbursement requests, including review and reconciliation of payment detail, confirmation of policy coverage, and referral of amount due. Vendor management within the payables function. Miscellaneous General Ledger maintenance. Serve as back-up for various Treasury functions. Perform other duties and responsibilities as necessary to assure the overall success of the Finance Team Qualifications College diploma or university degree in the field of accounting or finance preferred. Knowledge with PeopleSoft GL, Hyperion/SmartView, FRS, and Powercomp. Intermediate Microsoft Excell skills. Interact and collaborate with employees at all levels from across the organization. Ability to recommend, present, and implement change. Be a main point person with multiple Brokers/Intermediaries and work to resolve any reconciling issues. Be a problem solver, with high attention to detail, and be willing to take ownership. Team-oriented, approachable, welcome feedback, self-motivating, and enthusiastic.
