St. Michael's Inc., an employee-owned company, has an opening for an Accountant Journeyman with experience delivering accounting performance capabilities to enable mission delivery to a large Federal Agency. Candidates should have experience in supporting mission delivery with informed decision-making by employing analytical capabilities and providing accounting transparency to support mission execution. Additionally, the Accountant Journeyman will possess working knowledge in Financial Management, Budget, and Revenue. Location: Washington, DC (NCR Region)
Active Clearance required: Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance or possess an active Public Trust Clearance or higher.
Required: Four (4) years of related work experience. Must have working knowledge of Federal Financial Reporting. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to read/interpret management policy, regulations, and directives. Ability to work effectively within a group or independently Ability to effectively manage several project or multiple request at one time. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and SharePoint. Desired: Public Trust Clearance or higher Duties Include: Develop, advise on, and/or implement major policy and system changes affecting accounting programs. Provide expert advice to program managers and senior executive officials. Analyzes and interprets accounting data and reports and performs financial analyses, forecasts, and evaluations. Review and interpret new legislation, regulations, directives, and guidelines affecting assigned programs. Review and provide advice on the accuracy of data produced by accounting systems and service provider and assists with the reconciliation of system outputs to other accounting systems and subsystems. Provide advice on planning and implementation of internal controls to ensure integrity and the accuracy and completeness of the financial. Additionally, the Contractor shall not replace the Accountant without prior acknowledgement from the Contracting Officer . Education: A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, operations research, management computer science, or related discipline with sufficient credits to meet Certified Public Accountant licensing qualification. Masters degree is preferred.
