Position Information Job Summary
The accessibility coordinator serves as the primary coordinator for accessibility services and testing. In this role, the coordinator reviews documentation for qualified disabilities to determine reasonable academic accommodations and facilitates access to and implementation of accommodations, including but not limited to, testing, note-takers, and assistive technology.



Position Duties & Responsibilities Administration Provide leadership and oversight for accessibility services and coordinate testing. Develop and implement strategic goals and assessment plan to enhance and measure student learning outcomes related to accessibility services. Collaborate with Dean to manage the budget to support accessibility services. Recruit, hire, train, and supervise designated staff, graduate assistants, and/or student workers. Accessibility Services Support students' needs related to accessibility, accommodations, and compliance. Conduct intake interviews with students requesting academic accommodations. Consult with students individually and engage in an on-going, interactive process for identifying, activating, and implementing reasonable academic accommodations. Assist students with problem-solving strategies, advocacy, and mediation. Collect, review, and verify professional documentation of disabilities/conditions, including requests for emotional support animals (ESAs). Maintain confidentiality, adhering to FERPA, HIPPA, and other university policies. Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain compliance and accessibility. Manage and negotiate the coordination and implementation of academic accommodations, assistive technology or auxiliary aids and services, such as, but not limited to, testing accommodations, note-takers, building access, sign language interpreting/speech to text services and temporary parking needs. Identify, implement, and manage database and any other data management systems. Develop and provide campus training for faculty, staff, and students. Monitor federal, state, and local regulations and exercise prudent judgement in interpreting and applying them. Serve on the retention committee, or other committees as assigned. Participate in professional association conferences, trainings, and workshops. Experience and Qualification Requirements Master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, education, occupational therapy, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience is required. Highly goal-oriented and self-motivated, dependable, and reliable Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Effective communicator, both written and verbal, in interpersonal and public speaking settings Positive and approachable, builds rapport with a wide range of constituents Collaborative team player with ability to work independently Creative, resourceful, adaptable, and patient Quick learner; committed to efficiency and accuracy Demonstrates a high level of professionalism Knowledge of / Experience with: Knowledge and application of best practices in accessibility services in higher education Experience working with individuals with disabilities, knowledge of ADAA and Section 504 of the Rehab Act Experience working with traditional and non-traditional college students Experience in a testing center, disability services office, special education, or related setting Experience providing direct service or accommodations to people with disabilities Experience developing and evaluating operational and program goals Requires ability to read and interpret testing reports and assessment instruments Ability to solve problems and provide creative solutions Must be able to take the initiative, manage multiple tasks, work with little supervision, implement best practices and work collaboratively in a team environment Familiarity with academic support services (e.g., advising, tutoring, accessibility, etc.) Adept at navigating and leveraging technology, experience with databases is a must Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook Working Conditions / Special Requirements Bushnell employees must have a maturing Christian faith and live in compliance with the duties and expectations as detailed in the Employee Handbook. This position may require lifting up to 25 lbs, as well as bending, stooping, kneeling. This position may require some evening and weekend hours.
