Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. Availability of positions in composition, literature, linguistics and creative writing will be determined by need during the 2024-25 academic year. We are primarily looking for instructors to teach in person. Appointments from the lecturer pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term.Minimum Qualifications:The minimum education requirement for a lecturer appointment in linguistics is a PhD. For literature, composition, and creative writing, an MA in English or closely-related field is the minimum education requirement.Preferred Qualifications:Bilingual candidates will be given preference.Responsibilities:Lecturers will teach one or more sections of courses for which the Department Chair deems them qualified. We offer BAs in English Studies, English Literature, and English Education; Minors in Creative Writing, English, Linguistics, and Secondary Language Arts; Certificates in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Teaching College-Level Writing, and Literary Editing and Publishing; and MAs in Creative Writing, Language and Literacy, and Literature.
