Responsibilities
• Welcome patients and visitors in a friendly, professional, and courteous manner both in person and on the telephone• Schedule appointments for all providers and optimize patient satisfaction and exam room availability• Enter and update patient demographic and financial information in the electronic systems• Assist patients with checking in and registration in the new online system• Record and collect patient charges and provide transaction receipts• Verify patient's insurance eligibility and sliding fee status• Communicate appointment changes to patients and staff• Comfort patients and respond to their inquiries promptly• Assist patients with using the patient portal• Maintain a neat and well-organized waiting area• Promote APLA Health's services and direct patients accordingly• Participate in special projects to promote APLA Health's services• Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines• Comply with OSHA and other regulatory requirements• Assist in the orientation of new personnel• Work as a contributing team member and act professionally and respectfully• Comply with standard operating policies and protocols
Requirements
• High school diploma or GED required; AA degree preferred• Experience working in a medical office or customer service experience preferred• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred• Knowledgeable about insurance plans and Medi-Cal/Medicare• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs• Experience with electronic health records preferred• Extremely organized and detail-oriented• Excellent communication and written skills• Strong telephone etiquette• Customer service-oriented• Strict discipline in time management with a focus on quality• Good computer and typing skills
